Salaam, and welcome to our May 2019 newsletter! Here’s what we were up to this month:

Poligon Partners with ISPU on Annual American Muslim Poll
Poligon partnered with ISPU on their Annual American Muslim Poll. In that poll, it was shown that only 17% of Muslims contacted their Member of Congress in the last year. This ranked Muslims as the least politically engaged faith group. Poligon wants to increase that percentage so that every Muslim is politically engaged. You can help us achieve this goal by donating today.
Annual D.C. Iftar hosted by Poligon
Poligon hosted its annual iftar in D.C. this Ramadan with nearly 100 people in attendance. The night was filled with an evening of fellowship, delicious food, and one of the best views in the District. We even had a longtime supporter and community leader, Colin Christopher, express a few words of support for our work. You can watch his full speech here.
Maryland Iftar hosted by Sadaf & Mike
Sadaf Ahmad and Mike Ryan hosted an iftar to raise funds for Poligon at their home in Maryland. Poligon Board Members, Wardah Khalid and Faheem Rathore, attended and gave a presentation about the organization. Thank you to Sadaf and Mike for opening your home to us and for being proud supporters.
California Iftar hosted by Faran Sikandar
Poligon Board Member, Faran Sikandar, hosted a fundraising iftar at his home in Oakland, California. If you would like to host an Iftar for Poligon, then get a head start by dowloading our toolkit here.

Poligon attended an iftar on the Capitol Hill that was hosted by Muslim Advocates and co-hosted by Muslim Members of Congress Rashida Tlaib (D-MI-13), Ilhan Omar (D-MN-5), and Andre Carson (D-IN-7). The Representatives spoke about standing together and fighting for each other’s rights.
Thank you for for donating in Ramadan!
Thank you to everyone who donated to Poligon this Ramadan! With your support, we surpassed our $10,000 Facebook campaign goal and raised funds on our website. All donations will go toward our critical work to amplify Muslim American voices in Congress. Ramadan may be over, but you can donate year round at our website here.
